ETIS Community Gathering 2009

Data is King - The key asset for Future Telco business! - Istanbul, 15/16 October 2009

ETIS held the 2009 ETIS Community Gathering in Istanbul on 15/16 October. The Gathering was held in conjunction with the 38th Management board hosted by Turkcell on 14 October 2009. The ETIS Community Gathering brought together our members from the European Telecom operators to share knowledge on key ICT issues facing the Telecom industry.

The Gathering began with a common session for all of our members on the topic  'Data is King - The key asset for Future Telco business!'. The session looked at how 'Data' has become the Telco's core asset and how to best take care of that key asset in order to achieve your business objectives, create new business opportunities and tried to anticipate where the competition is heading.

The remainder of day 1 featured a dedicated 'Management Board/CIO Session' as well as breakout sessions for the working groups. The day ended with a scenic boat ride down the Bosphorus to a historic Ottoman mansion on the Asian side for the ETIS Community Banquet dinner. The second day, Friday 16 October 2009, was dedicated to individual working sessions for our working groups: Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, Procurement & Vendor Management, Business Intelligence & Data Warehouse and Customer Self-Service. Information about the different ETIS working groups and activities can be found on the ETIS website.

The Gathering was, as always an ideal opportunity for all of the ETIS members, associates and partners to get to know one another, learn about each other's activities, plans and expectations and above all, share knowledge. In addition to the education programmes, there was be plenty of unique opportunities for networking, with lunches, networking breaks and an executive dinner.
