The ETIS CERT-SOC Telco Network held its first meeting of the year in Istanbul, kindly hosted by Turkcell on 17-18 March 2016. The meeting was attended by 22 participants from 8 companies including BICS, Deutsche Telekom, KPN, Oger Telekom, Proximus, Turk Telekom, Turkcell and guests from CERT EU.
The main objective of the CERT-SOC group meetings is bringing specialists from ETIS member organizations together in order to facilitate information, intelligence and knowledge sharing, and to improve the overall security of telecommunications infrastructure.
The focus of this meeting was on latest Cyber Threat developments, activities and threats. The presenters shared information on vulnerability management, future plans, nature of targeted attacks as well as mass distribution of malware and prevention.
Summarising the successful meeting, Can Tarakci from Turkcell and one of the hosts of this event explained: “It was our great pleasure for us here at Turkcell to host the ETIS CERT-SOC Telco Network meeting in Istanbul. Meeting in person greatly improves the information shared and we learn from each others' experiences, not just limited to the meeting topics but also other Telco and regulatory issues as well, allowing us to prepare and stay ahead of the latest threats and challenges.“
Invitations to the next CERT-SOC meeting will be circulated to group members soon. For more information on the CERT-SOC Telco Network, the group’s activities and joining ETIS, please contact Martin Hrdlicka.
