This event was attended by 18 participants from the following companies: eircom, A1 Telekom Austria, Lattelecom, Magyar Telekom, Proximus, Slovak Telekom, TDC, Turkcell, TeliaSonera, KPN and a guest speaker from ING. Some of the topics covered during the Board meeting included an overview of our Members’ latest activities and challenges, ETIS KPI’s and strategy, financial report 2014, ETIS Gathering 2015 and other administrative matters. The Board meeting concluded with a round-table session on our Members’ Network Function Virtualization maturity levels.
ETIS is pleased to announce that its Chairman, Wim De Meyer, Head of Innovation for Proximus, has been re-elected for another 2 year period. Wim had the following to say about his re-election: “Building on the success of the past two years, I am pleased to continue in the role of ETIS Chairman. These are exciting times in the Telecom industry and ETIS is a great resource to share knowledge on the latest innovative ways of working with IT and Technology in the Telco industry. As Telcos return to a growth mind-set, we are seeing new topics being covered by ETIS such as innovation, Dev/Ops, Big Data, NFV, open APIs and more… ETIS has also been great a resource for helping to combat the Cyber Security challenges facing the industry. All of us highly appreciate the opportunities and benefits of being part of the community and I look forward to providing the strategic leadership to help guide the organisation into the future. “
Some additional elections took place and Helene Graham, CTO of Eircom, was elected as the new Secretary Treasurer of ETIS. Kees Stok, Program Manager for KPN and Armin Sumesgutner, Director Service Network Planning for A1 Telekom Austria, were both re-elected as ETIS Council members for another two year period and Tora Tenden will remain in the role of Secretary General.
An ETIS CIO Executive Workshop took place on the second day and focused on how today’s CIOs are strategically placed to influence the Telco's transformation, innovation and future business models with a special focus on ‘Dev/Ops’ and ‘Open Assets’. The first part of the day explored how Telcos might benefit from adopting a Dev/Ops methodology to increase agility, quality and stimulate innovation. The afternoon featured a discussion session on how Telcos can open up their assets to stimulate innovation and find the next ‘Big Idea’. Last but not least, the discussion session was supported by the results of a survey on our Members’ Open API strategies.
The next CIO Executive Workshop will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark during the ETIS Community Gathering on 15-16 October 2015.
