Last week, the ETIS Enterprise Architecture Working Group held its first meeting of 2013 kindly hosted by KPN in Rotterdam. All in all, 18 people from 13 different companies including AVEA, Croatian Telekom, Deutsche Telekom, KPN, Swisscom, Telecom Italia, Turkcell, BCG, Agile Birds, Comarch and TNO gathered together to share knowledge and experience in the area of Enterprise Architecture. Summarising the successful meeting, Ton van der Knaap from our host KPN said: "I have been participating in the ETIS Enterprise Architecture working group for some years now. We have an open and friendly atmosphere in which information and best practice exchange is really easy. It was a pleasure being able to welcome the meeting to the Netherlands in our Rotterdam office”.
The objective of the Enterprise Architecture group is to identify and share best practice in the development and use of Enterprise Architecture techniques in the support of the telco industry. In addition to the usual topics discussed by the group, the meeting agenda also covered SOA Services – Governance and funding models; how to measure business value of IT initiatives; an integrated view on innovating the customer, organizational and IT processes; experiences from outsourcing and M2M and its impact on IT.
The group also made a decision to follow through with an Enterprise Architecture Complexity survey with support from the Boston Consulting Group. The next meeting is planned to take place in Prague, hosted by Telefonica O2 Czech Republic 20-21 June 2013.
