Dear ETIS member,

As 2019 draws to a close, I wanted to share with you what has been again an exceptional year of growth for ETIS.

Between our 11 working groups we organized over 25 meetings, which focused on increasingly interactive sessions, workshops as well as delivering more business value for participation. In fact, we had a 21% increase in participation! Why? Refined working group scopes and discussion topics aligned with your priorities (and interests!); an increase in webinars connecting you in between the physical meetings; strengthening of the community and networking aspect; as well as an increase in the membership by 13 companies!

Thus a warm welcome to those now participating from GO Malta; Reply; Altice Portugal; Infobip; Infradata; Norlys; F-Secure; A1 Telekom Austria; Splunk; Orange France; Abusix; Globys; and Euskaltel!

Next year we aim to continue increasing the collaboration and tangible outputs we develop through the creation of more working papers, benchmarks, roadmaps and joint-sessions between different working groups. This worked particularly well with the decision to hold joint-meetings of our CERT-SOC Telco Network and Anti-Abuse Telco Network, as well as at this past Community Gathering in Vienna. Joining working groups such as the Network and IT Transformation WG and Procurement and Vendor Management WG in sessions covering areas of mutual interest helped deepen collaboration and discussions in priority areas (the 5G vendor landscape! virtualisation of the network and open-source software!) We're changing our ways of working here in ETIS to mirror your own--Let's break down silos and work agilely too!

Another way we aim to do this is with an increase in webinars (for example on specialised topics that bring in experts who perhaps would not normally join a full meeting) as well as revamp the website and members portal. Currently in the initial stages, we aim to increase both the user-friendliness of our site (and new app!) and improve your ability to engage with one another outside of the meetings. Collaboration is going strong at our meetings--lets "drive it" online as well!

Preparation for next year's meetings are currently underway, with a number of them listed on our website for the first half of the year. Save-the-dates and calls to register have already been sent out to the respective working groups, but we will give you a more complete overview of the year's events through our January newsletter.

Last but not least, I want to take the time to thank Martin Hrdlicka for all his support and dedication over the last 5 years. He has left an indelible mark on each of the (5!) working groups he managed and will be missed by his colleagues and those around the community. We wish him much success in his new position at IKEA in Sweden!

We are also happy to announce that we have hired a new Community Manager who will begin in January--introductions to come in the new year.

On behalf of myself and the rest of the ETIS Central Office here in Brussels, we wish you a happy holiday and look forward to seeing you in the new year!

Kind regards,
Wim De Meyer
