Cyber Security Partnership between ETIS and The Internet Society of China

ETIS is pleased to announce that Internet Society of China (ISC) has recently joined the ETIS Community as a Partner to collaborate on Cyber Security. This partnership was agreed upon during a recent Cyber Security Collaboration Workshop hosted in Shenzhen, China on 19 November 2015.
The ISC first came into contact with ETIS in 2014 where a delegation was sent to join our Anti-Abuse Telco Network meeting hosted by KPN in Hilversum, the Netherlands. This meeting was an important landmark as it was the first time the Chinese Security community met with Security professionals from the European operators to discuss the latest Cyber threats coming from both regions. During the recent Workshop the participants re-iterated the importance of collaboration and information sharing between the Security communities which led to the establishment of this new Partnership.
The ISC Partnership representative Mr. Zhichao HAO - Secretary General of Anti-spam Committee in Internet Society of China and he had the following to say about this new partnerships: 'Cooperation between China and Europe is extremely essential and precious. This cooperation will play a very positive role to the network security both in China and Europe.'
Fred Werner, the Communications & Programme Director of ETIS explains: ‘Our Members value security collaboration, intelligence sharing and trusted partnerships above all else. We see the ISC as an important partnership for knowledge sharing and information on Cyber security threats between European and Chinese operators and ISPs. ETIS was impressed with their openness and willingness to share information and best practices and this new partnership gives our member more ammunition to combat Cyber threats on a Global level.’
The main mission of ISC, located in Beijing, is promotion of the Internet development in China. ISC has now more than 400 members such as legal companies, research institutes, academic associations, universities and other organizations engaged in a variety of activities on the Internet.
ISC goals are to push forward industry self-discipline, to strengthen communication and cooperation between its members, to assist and provide support for policies making, and to promote Internet application and public awareness.
Internet Society of China (ISC) was inaugurated on 25th May, 2001. ISC was initiatively founded by more than 70 sponsors, which include network access carriers, ISPs, facility manufacturers and research institutes etc. The current Chairman is Mr. Hequan WU, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering.
