ETIS held its first Anti-Abuse Telco Network meeting of the year hosted by Turk Telekom in Istanbul on 12-13 March 2015. It was attended by 31 people from a variety of companies including Belgacom, Cyscon, KPN, Oger Telecom, Return Path, SISA, Sunrise, Swisscom, Symantec, Telenor, TDC, Turkcell, Turk Telekom, Avea,, Yandex, NOS and Vade Retro.

The meeting was opened by Coşkun Şahin, Group CTO from Turk Telekom, who welcomed our Members to Istanbul followed by numerous Member presentations, roundtable sessions and case studies. As during previous meetings, the main goal was to discuss how to reduce spam levels on the Telcos’ networks and how to deal with the latest abuse threats. Additionally, the group exchanged information and views on Phishing, Malware, Spam/Mobile Spam trends and statistics, DMARC implementation progress, email platform migrations, opening up port 25 and more. The meeting also focused on the progress and experiences of the ETIS – Return Path Global Trap Exchange which now has over 19 operators actively exchanging spam trap information. Last but not least, the meeting also explored how to further collaborate with the Switzerland Internet Security Alliance (SISA).

Hussein Babayigit,  Security Services Group Manager for Turk Telekom, had the following to say about hosting the meeting: “As Turk Telekom, we are pleased to host ETIS members in Istanbul where the continents meet..
