As the end of the year is approaching, we would like to take this opportunity to present a short re-cap of 2014 and thank the ETIS Members for all the dedication, hard work and contributions that made 2014 such a great success. This year, ETIS has held close to 20 Working Group meetings, workshops, countless conference calls without forgetting our annual ETIS Community Gathering hosted in Budapest. We are very fortunate to have members who are willing to go to great lengths to be able to attend ETIS meetings even in times of strict travel restrictions. This has positively reflected on our attendance levels, demonstrating that what we do brings value and is worth the effort and time you all put into ETIS.

Despite tough economic conditions we have seen via our TeBIT Benchmarking Study a shift from IT cost reduction to focused IT investments in areas that can drive competitive advantage. This shift has also been reflected across the working groups who are once again looking to the future rather than focusing on cost cutting. To learn more about IT costs and spending patterns in Telcos, please download our TeBIT 2014 Executive Report which was produced in co-operation with BCG:

During the past year we have also seen Information Security rise on the Telco agenda and consequently become one of the most active areas for ETIS with three out of ten Working Groups dedicated to Security related issues. As a complement to our yearly Information Security benchmark, we have produced a Successful Practices in Telco Security Executive Report to highlight our work and also attract potential participants. The result is 49 successful security practices distributed over the various benchmark themes. On the member front, we are very pleased to announce that Huawei, Symantec and Abusix are now part of the ETIS community as Associate Members once again demonstrating the importance of Security in the Telco landscape. Current Analysis has also joined as a Partner and has been an active contributor to the Procurement & Vendor Management Working Group. Within a short period of time, these new members are already perceived as a great resource to our members across multiple working groups and we are looking forward to their contributions in 2015.

As every year, in October, ETIS also brought together most of our Working Groups at the Community Gathering 2014, which took place in Budapest, Hungary and was kindly supported by Magyar Telekom and Gold Sponsor Ericsson. The event brought together 140 people from 60 companies and offered an inspirational view on how digital disruption, OTT players and social media are transforming the Telco value chain. We already have the date and location of the ETIS Community Gathering 2015 which will take place in Copenhagen on 15-16 October 2015.

In between the physical meetings our members have been using our Members Corner and conference calls more than ever. ETIS is pleased to announce that the new Members Corner activity almost doubled in 2014 compared to the old website in 2013. If you haven’t done so, we encourage you to logon and browse through the wealth of presentations, minutes, reports and group photos from this past year. We hope that you will continue to take full advantage of the possibilities offered by this new Website to connect and share even more knowledge in 2015.

Last but not least, ETIS is pleased to announced that the ETIS calendar for 2015 is now ready and has been posted online. The calendar provides an overview of all our upcoming Working Group meetings and can be viewed here: ETIS Calendar 2015 >>

On behalf of the ETIS Central Office, we wish you all a very happy and peaceful holiday season. We are looking forward to meeting all of you soon in 2015 that will surely bring a lot of interesting meetings and plenty of knowledge sharing among our members. Sharing knowledge is our strength!
