47th ETIS Management Board & CIO Workshop in Dublin

ETIS recently held its 47th Management Board Meeting & CIO Executive Workshop which was hosted by eircom in Dublin on 22-23 May 2014.  The meetings were attended by 20 participants from 16 companies such as A1 Telekom Austria, Belgacom, BT, Deutsche Telekom, eircom, Fastweb, KPN, Lattelecom, Magyar Telekom, OTE, Slovak Telekom, TDC, Telecom Italia, Telenor, Turkcell and Turk Telekom.

Some of the topics covered during the Board meeting were the ETIS KPIs – Status report 2013, a discussion about how best to take advantage of the ETIS Community, ETIS Community Gathering 2014 the new ETIS website and online community functionalities and other administrative matters. ETIS is also pleased to announce that Dr. Michael Damarowsky, Vice-President IT Europe of Deutsche Telekom, was re-elected as an ETIS Council member for two more years and two new Council members were also elected at the meeting: Helene Graham, CTO of eircom and Uldis Tatarcuks, CTO-CIO of Lattelecom. ETIS would also like to take this opportunity to thank Andreas Asimomitis, a former long-time Council member and Secretary Treasurer for his great contributions to the organisation. 

The theme of the CIO Executive Workshop hosted on Friday, 23 May, was ‘IT Transformation and Portfolio Reduction Strategies‘. The session looked featured presentations from Trond-Ove Breivik, Group CIO of Telenor, Bert Van Barneveld, CIO of KPN, Helene Graham, the CTO of eircom and George Glass, Chief Systems Architect at BT. The second session was dedicated to ‘Asset Management’ and included a presentation from Maurizio Corsi, Senior IT Manager from Telecom Italia. A number of round-table discussion sessions also took place where our members shared knowledge, experiences and successful practices regarding the effectiveness of IT transformation & sourcing as well as on how to align business with technical data models, definitions & customer expectations. The day ended with a discussion session led by Openet CEO, Niall Norton, to discuss how Telcos can co-operate with the OTTs and possible future business models.

The next CIO Executive Workshop will be held in Budapest, Hungary during the ETIS Community Gathering on 16/17 October 2014.
