Last week the ETIS Anti-Spam Co-operation group held a meeting in Paris, France which was kindly hosted by Orange along with Vade Retro who hosted the group dinner. It was attended by 28 people from a variety of companies including Abusix, Belgacom, BT, Cloudmark, Deutsche Telekom, eleven, Elion, Orange, Return Path, Swisscom, Signal Spam, TDC, Telecom Italia, Telenor, Trend Micro and Vade-Retro. Summarising the successful meeting, Mathieu Girol from our host Orange said: "I have been participating in the ETIS Anti-spam meeting for about two years, and I can tell now that I really feel member of the team. The group has a very nice atmosphere and it offers us very good opportunities to exchange information. So I was very pleased and proud to welcome the meeting to Paris in our Orange facilities.”

As during previous meetings, the main goal was to discuss how to reduce spam levels on the Telcos networks and how to deal with the latest threats. Additionally, the group exchanged information and views on dirty IPs, botnet suppression, spam trends and statistics, white-list and black-list policies, Phising and DMARC, email authentication and the ETIS Anti Spam Best Practices Document.

The meeting also focused on the progress and experiences of the ETIS – Return Path Feedback Loop project which has grown significantly over the past two years. The following Telcos are currently using the feedback loop: Telefonica, Telenor, TDC, Belgacom, XS4ALL, Orange, Cox, Telecom Italia, WP.PL, Libero and Swisscom.

The next meeting will be most likely be hosted by Telenor in Oslo (*to be confirmed) on 19-20 September 2013. For more information on how to join this group, please contact Fred Werner at:
