GROUP DESCRIPTION

The ETIS Sustainability + CSRD Working Group unites sustainability, ESG, and compliance leaders from European telecom operators and industry partners.

The group focuses on helping telecoms meet their sustainability goals — from reducing environmental impact and advancing the circular economy to delivering greener services for customers — while ensuring compliance with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) . Members exchange strategies, tackle reporting challenges, and stay ahead of evolving EU legislation.

KEY FOCUS AREAS IN 2025-2026:

• Sustainability Strategy & Circular Economy: Integrating circular principles into networks, infrastructure, and product life cycles to minimize waste and maximize resource efficiency.
  
  

• Emission Reduction Targets: Implementing projects to cut Scope 3 emissions, improve energy efficiency, and lower overall carbon footprint.
  
  

• Supplier Sustainability Engagement: Building frameworks and partnerships to accelerate supplier compliance with ESG standards.
  
  

• Green Energy & Infrastructure: Expanding renewable energy sourcing, supporting low-carbon operations, and investing in energy transition technologies.
  
  

• Sustainable Customer Solutions: Designing and delivering products and services that help customers reduce their environmental footprint.
  
  

• CSRD Compliance & Reporting: Understanding telecom-specific CSRD requirements, aligning with EU Taxonomy, and integrating sustainability data into consistent, verifiable reports.
  
  

• Addressing Reporting Challenges: Overcoming issues such as fragmented data, lack of standardized metrics, and integration of reporting tools.
  
  

• Double Materiality & Governance: Conducting double materiality assessments and human rights due diligence to meet EU reporting standards.

PARTICIPANT PROFILE:

The group welcomes professionals with strategic or operational responsibility for sustainability, ESG governance, and compliance in telecom organizations. Typical roles include:

HOW WE WORK:

• 1–2 In-Person Meetings per Year:  Held every June and on request in Q4, these are full two-day events, providing deep-dive discussions, presentations, and networking in a closed, trusted environment.
  
  
• 4–6 Online Activities per Year: Webinars, workshops, and joint task force sessions, including:
  • Peer-Led Exchanges: Sharing sustainability initiatives, energy projects, and CSRD compliance experiences.
  • Expert Insights: Policy, legal, and ESG experts provide updates on EU directives, climate targets, and sustainability innovations.
  • Benchmarks & Surveys: Comparative data on emissions reduction, ESG maturity, and CSRD readiness

PARTICIPATING COMPANIES:

Includes leading European telecom operators, sustainability solution providers, and compliance experts committed to advancing the sector's environmental and reporting maturity.
