The ETIS CERT-SOC Telco Network held its first meeting of
2013 in Brussels, Belgium kindly hosted by Belgacom. The meeting was
attended by 16 participants from nine companies including Belgacom , BT,
Deutsche Telekom, Swisscom, KPN, Slovak Telekom, TDC, TNO and Turkcell.
Although not physically represented at the meeting, additional nine
ETIS members are participating in the initiative through the Members
Corner: A1 Telekom Austria, CYTA, Fastweb, Lattelecom, Magyar Telekom,
Portugal Telecom, Telefonica, Telenor and TeliaSonera.
CERT stands for Computer Emergency Response Team
and SOC stands for Security Operations Center. The meeting provided a
new impulse for the working group with participants reaching an
agreement on the rules and modes of collaboration, as well as an
extensive set of proposed actions to be undertaken in the near future.
The four main areas of cooperation identified by the members evolve
around intelligence, practices, tooling and operations. During the
meeting the group already actively exchanged information on latest
activities and incidents on their networks and re-iterated the
importance of establishing close informal relationships based on trust.
Furthermore, ETIS would like to thank Andy de
Petter from Belgacom for hosting the meeting as well as Alan Millar from
BT for taking up his duties as the group’s Chairman and driving the
progress forward. Alan will be supported in his role by Hector Ortiz
from Swisscom and Andy as Vice-Chairmen.
