37th Management Board & CIO Executive Workshop hosted by Deutsche Telekom

ETIS held its 37th Management Board meeting which was hosted by Deutsche Telekom in Bonn on 27 May 2009. An ETIS CIO Executive Workshop was also held the following day on the theme of ''Future Telco Scenarios & IT as an Enabler''. The meetings were attended by senior ICT Executives from companies such as Deutsche Telekom, KPN, Belgacom, OTE, Telecom Italia, Croatian Telecom, TeliaSonera, Telenor, Cisco, Detecon and Boston Consulting Group.

During the first day, the Management Board meeting focused on administrative matters, ETIS strategy and the election of Council members. As a result, ETIS is pleased to announce that the Management Board unanimously voted to re-elect Tora Tenden as the ETIS Chairman and Andreas Asimomitis from OTE as a Council Member. ETIS would also like to thank Eric Kramer for his many years of excellent service as a Council member. He will continue to be active in the Enterprise Architecture working group but has now been replaced by Kees Stok as the new Council member from KPN. The Board Members also took the opportunity to network and update each on their company's overall organizational structure, the latest changes and future perspectives.

The second day was dedicated to the CIO workshop during which the CIOs exchanged knowledge on their future telco scenarios. The first half of the workshop looked at future possible scenarios and business opportunities for the Telcos in the coming years. The second half looked at the CIO's role and how IT will be the enabler for the Future Telco.

The workshop participants were welcomed by Deutsche Telekom Group CIO, Steffen  Roehn who gave an update on the latest IT challenges. The workshop featured a keynote presentation from Ross Fowler - Vice President Service Providers Europe, Cisco who presented on 'SP2015 Report – Future Scenarios for Telecoms'. Other topics that were covered in the workshop were  'IT & Data Security - Burden or Business Opportunity?', 'The Next Generation Telco CIO: Taming the IT Transformation Beast' and 'The Next Generation Telco CIO: Innovation partner for the business'.

The next major ETIS event will be the ETIS Community Gathering and 38th ETIS Management Board meeting held in Istanbul on 15/16 October 2009.
