e-telit Editorial

Dear e-telit Readers,

Welcome to the May edition of the e-telit. The focus of this month's issue will of course be our upcoming ETIS Community Gathering that will be held in Stockholm on 14/15 October. Preparations for the Gathering are already well under way and we look forward to seeing you all in Stockholm in the fall. ETIS will also be bringing its members together at the 39th Management Board meeting and CIO Executive Workshop hosted by Telecom Italia in Rome on May 27/28.

This has been a busy first half of the year for ETIS with all of our working group meetings and preparations for the Board meeting, CIO Workshop and the next Gathering. We have also increased the amount of Benchmarking surveys undertaken, now including TeBIT, Information Security, Business Intelligence & Datawarehouse, Enterprise Architecture and Procurement & Vendor Management. Unfortunately we had to cancel our Billing Group meeting due to the 'Cloud' travel chaos which affected several of our members who were on the road at that moment. The Billing Group meeting has been rescheduled and will take place during the ETIS Community Gathering.

Last but not least, ETIS is proud to announce that Cosmote has joined as a Full Member. Trend Micro and Synacor have both joined as Associate Members. On behalf of ETIS, we are all looking forward to seeing you at one of our many working group meetings, workshops and gatherings during the rest of the year. Sharing knowledge is our strength!

Yours Sincerely,
Fred Werner
Business Development Manager

ETIS NEWS
ETIS Community Gathering 2010

ETIS is pleased to inform you that the next ETIS Community Gathering will be hosted by ETIS in Stockholm on 14/15 October 2010. The Gathering will also be held in conjunction with the 40th Management Board hosted by TeliaSonera on 13 October. The ETIS Community Gathering will bring together our members from the European Telecom operators to share knowledge on key ICT issues facing the Telecom industry.

Telcos are struggling more than ever to stay relevant in a world dominated by over the top players, web 2.0, cloud services, social networking and fast changing consumer patterns. Responding to this critical issue the theme of the next ETIS Community Gathering will be: ‘The Future of Telecom Services – How to stay relevant in a 2.0 world’.

The Gathering will begin with a common session which focuses on the future of Telecom services, with an emphasis on how service providers can position themselves to get the full value out of their next generation network investments, as well as how to monetize new services, applications and partnerships. The remainder of day 1 and all of day 2 will be dedicated to the following ETIS Working Groups: Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, Procurement & Vendor Management, Business Intelligence & Data Warehouse, Billing, Customer Self Service and the CIO Executive Forum.

Both the common session and the parallel working group meetings will provide the opportunity for our members to learn from one another on how to do better business in the future.

The gathering is an ideal opportunity for all of the ETIS members, associates and partners to get to know one another, learn about each other's activities, plans and expectations and above all, share knowledge. In addition to the education programmes, there will be plenty of unique opportunities for networking, with lunches, networking breaks and an executive dinner.

This meeting is open to ETIS Members, Associate Members, Partners and Working Groups participants. However, if your company is considering ETIS membership and would like to attend this event, please contact Mr. Fred Werner at fw@etis.org

ETIS Management Board Meeting & CIO Executive Workshop

ETIS is pleased to announce that the forthcoming 39th Management Board meeting and CIO Executive Workshop will be kindly hosted by Telecom Italia in Rome on 27-28 May 2010.

The theme of the CIO Executive Workshop will be ‘How CIOs can Influence the Success of Next Generation Networks’. The transformation towards Next Generation Networks has placed many new challenges on the CIO’s table. Responding to this critical issue the first half of the workshop cover our members’ NGN roll-out experiences followed by a session on the specific IT Challenges related to NGN.

The workshop will feature a welcome speech by Giovanni Chiarelli, CIO of Telecom Italia, and a keynote presentation from Sandro Dionisi on Telecom Italia’s NGN Technology & Roll-out Strategies. Michiel Valk from KPN will present on KPN’s Fiber to the Home Trials. The remainder of the workshop will be dedicated to ETIS Member CIO presentations and open discussions related to NGN roll-out experiences and IT challenges. These sessions will be moderated by Wim De Meyer from Belgacom and Juliane Kronen from The Boston Consulting Group to help ensure structured and active discussions.

Participating in this workshop will allow Telco related CIOs to discuss their ongoing NGN roll-out and IT challenges with the CIOs from the ETIS Member Telcos in a trusted and open environment. For more information on this Workshop, please contact Mr. Fred Werner at fw@etis.org
