Now that the ETIS Community Gathering 2017 is over, we are pleased to provide you a few important outcomes from the event. We welcomed more than 191 participants and thanks to the presence of e-Estonia from which we got a lot of inspiration everywhere around us, Tallinn was the perfect place for networking among all present ETIS peers.

Firstly, we want to kindly thank to our host Telia Company and Telia Eesti, our Silver Sponsor Comarch and Bronze Sponsor Open-Xchange. Without their support, the ETIS Community Gathering 2017 would not have been possible.

During the Common Session, the ETIS Chairman, Paul Slot opened the event by an introduction of ‘The New ETIS’ mentioning how we are going digital and outlining our successes of past year. Indrek Onnik, Project Manager of e-Estonia Showroom, an executive briefing center under Estonian government, gave us an insight into Estonian e-society. This presentation inspired many of our members and initiated discussions on what should be changed in our countries’ systems in order to reach Estonian level of digitalization. Rudy de Waele, a worldwide known futurist, showcased many interesting new technology developments and gave us path where the future in the digital technology is leading to with the arrival of AI, Blockchain, Digital Transformation, IoT and many other technology trends. The Common Session was concluded with an introduction of all ETIS Working Groups by their Chairmen/women.

After the Common Session, Working Groups were ready to start their own Sessions. This year in Tallinn we had several new Joint Sessions for instance; Procurement and Vendor Management together with Data Privacy Task Force discussed GDPR and its implications within the Procurement Department or Innovation, Digital Telco Strategy Forum, Smart Charging and Payments and Network & IT Transformation met during Joint Session with Estonian start-ups.

We also welcomed Juhan Lepassar, Head of Cabinet of Vice President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Digital Single Market Andrus Ansip, who passed by to give us news on the EU data economy and free flow of non-personal data ongoing debates on EU level. The European Commission has proposed several new rules that should ensure competitiveness of European business and modernization of public service in an effective way in order to reach Digital Single Market.

We also included a City Tour into the program, in order to have a chance to discover beauties of Tallinn and also to continue networking outside of Sessions.  As per ETIS tradition, there were several other networking opportunities: coffee breaks, lunches and dinners including the Thursday’s Gala Dinner and an Informal Dinner in a traditional Medieval restaurant on Friday evening.

We are already looking forward to welcoming our members and other Telco peers on the 18th and 19th of October 2018 for our next Gathering.
