Smart Charging & Payments Working Group: Cloud solutions & digital billing

Smart Charging and Payments Working Group met in Reading in order to catch up on the latest development in billing in Telco and to agree on the future development of this Working Group.
The two-day meeting was divided into four sessions. During the first Session: Benchmarking Reports and Updates all participants discussed the latest challenges they have to face at the moment in their departments and what is their strategy to overcome them. During this Session attendees agreed on many same obstructions and appreciated opportunity to further discuss their common approach.
Second Session Innovation in Smart Charging & Payments gave a space to discuss what connects billing and innovation. Philipp Reischauer (Deutsche Telekom) gave insight into his meeting with ETIS Innovation Working Group. Later all participants presented outcome and agreed on future steps. After this presentation attendees also discussed the EU Roaming Regulation that will come to force at 15 June 2017. Everyone agreed that this topic should be reviewed during the ETIS Community Gathering in Tallinn.
During third Session on Cloud solutions, participants had opportunity to see different approaches to Cloud challenge from three vendors: hosting Anders Lundqvist (Oracle), Adrian Currall (Aria Systems) and Richard Doughty (Cerillion). All presenters agreed on the fact that Cloudification is an inevitable process that has been disposing several challenges. Richard and Adrian showcased interesting comparison of SaaS systems with traditional billing systems. Anders’s presentation was more focused on Cloud in general and how it is linked to billing.
Martin Morgan (Openet) opened the last Session with input on zero rating in digital Telco world. The further discussions were related to what makes Telco digital and how all companies are demonstrating their digital transformation.
The whole meeting was kindly hosted by Oracle in Thames Valley Park in Oracle premises.
