New ETIS Strategy officially launched at the 11th Community Gathering in Zagreb

On 13-14 October 2016 ETIS hosted its Community Gathering in Zagreb with more than 160 participants. During this annual event, two new Working Groups were established: Innovation and Data Privacy Task Force. Prior to the event, important foundations for these WGs were coordinated in order to launch the initial discussions in Zagreb.


On Wednesday 12 October 2016, prior the Gathering itself, the ETIS Management Board met and voted on some important decisions: Paul Slot was elected as Vice-Chairman of ETIS and Charlotte Hersdorf as new ETIS Council Member.


The whole Community Gathering was kicked-off by the Common Session on Thursday morning. Participants attended presentations from a variety of speakers. Wim De Meyer opened the Common Session by a brief introduction of the New ETIS Strategy. Davor Tomaskovic (Hrvatski Telekom) and Markus Messerer (Swisscom) thematically continued by presenting their companies’ points of view on Digitalization. Andrew C. Allison (Amazon Web Services) talked about Cloud based solutions and Miroslav Kantolic (Ericsson) delivered the presentation Networking Society that was originally planned to be presented by Gordana Kovacevic (Ericsson). The morning was concluded by a panel discussion. The audience could also ask questions via Twitter using hashtag of the event #ETISGath2016.


The rest of the day was divided into Working Group Sessions and Joint Sessions; contemporary topics included IoT, 5G, SDN, Data Privacy, Cloud, Artificial Intelligence, Cost Optimization, Security, Chatbots, Customer Experience and many others.


On the final day of the event, participants visited the Ericsson Nikola Tesla premises where they had short presentations on how Ericsson deals with upcoming trends such as 5G, IoT and Smart Cities.

Besides the Innovation WG and the Data Privacy Task Force, participants attended the following Working Groups: CIO Workshop, Business Intelligence, Digital Sales & Services, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Procurement & Vendor Management, Smart Charging & Payments.
