The ETIS Billing & Revenue Management Working Group held its first meeting of the year in Edinburgh, kindly hosted by Redknee on 21-22 April 2016. The meeting was attended by 20 participants from 8 companies including Deutsche Telekom, KPN, Matrixx, Openet, Oracle, Turkcell, Telus and other invited guests.
The main objective of the Billing & Revenue Management meetings is to bring specialists from ETIS member organizations together in order to facilitate information, intelligence and knowledge sharing, and to improve the overall billing and revenue management experience, looking at this both from the provider’s point of view but also the customer’s experience.
The group had also invited university students to give their point of view regarding what do the future clients want? This was an animated discussion and it showed how the youth of today (in the UK) viewed how they use the technology available and up to what extent were they willing to pay for service?
During the meeting, it was also decided to change the name of the Billing & Revenue Management Working Group to: Smart Charging & Payments Working Group as this now encompasses and embraces the digital and Internet of Things era in which we are now all currently involved!
Summarizing the successful meeting, Alex Leslie, Hans Hodes from KPN, Chairman of the Working Group and Klaus Schuch from Redknee, the hosts of this event explained: “It was our great pleasure to be in Edinburgh with the Billing and Revenue Management Working Group. Members where really involved. We shared a lot of knowledge and by changing the name of the Working Group, we made the step into the future. A broader view with Smart Charging & Payments will surely lead to new insights on the former Billing Area. IoT developments within Telco´s are certainly going to find some benefits. It´s great to see that the Billing Area develops fast and that the importance is growing for Telcos and vendors. We are not limited anymore to talking about systems and architecture, it is now fully connected with the business.”
Invitations to the next Smart Charging & Payments (previously known as Billing & Revenue Management) working group meeting will be take place during the Zagreb Gathering in October 2016 and information will be circulated to group members soon.
