The ETIS Anti-Abuse Telco Network held its first meeting of this year in Zurich on 3-4 March 2016, kindly hosted by Swisscom. This event was attended by 24 participants from the following companies: Deutsche Telekom, KPN, Proximus, Sunrise, Swisscom, TDC, TeliaSonera, Huawei Technologies, Return Path, Vade Retro and abuse.ch.

The aim of the Anti-Abuse group is to share knowledge, best practices and experiences on online abuse. During this particular meeting, the Members discussed the group's latest projects and activities, Phishing detection tools, Global Spam Trap Exchange, unblocking port 25, vendor statistics, DMARC implementation updates and progress, walled gardens and sandboxes, the threat landscape in Switzerland and the latest industry updates.

Frank Lindberg (TDC), the new Anti-Abuse Telco Network Chairman, shared his impressions from this meeting: “It was another excellent meeting with good sessions and a lot of useful information and discussions. Most Telcos are now moving forward on implementing DMARC which is a positive development. The group agreed on a shared phishing portal hosted by Return-Path, hopefully leading to a quicker takedown and sharing Phishing URLs with other security vendors. A special thank you is in order for Roman from Abuse.ch for some interesting sessions and Rico from Swisscom for a very well planned meeting. We were also pleased to welcome to new participants from KPN, Vade Retro, Huawei and TeliaSonera at the meeting.”

Rico Bamert (Swisscom), host of this meeting had the following to say about hosting the meeting: “It was a pleasure to host the meeting and I was surprised that so many people joined the meeting. I suspect that the interesting agenda items and the good quality presentations contributed to this. For example, I heard that the Swisscom sandbox presentation provided crucial information to the Members. For me it was a very educational meeting and I am very happy that everything went so well.”

We are pleased to announce that the next Anti-Abuse Telco Network meeting will take place on 22-23 September 2016 and the location will be announced soon. For more information on how to join this group, please contact us
