The ETIS Anti-Abuse Telco Network held its second meeting of the year in Paris on 17-18 September 2015, kindly hosted by Return Path. This event was attended by 23 participants from a variety of companies including 1&1, TDC, Ericsson, Abusix, KPN, La Poste, Proximus, Swisscom, Telenor, Signal Spam, Damballa, Vade Retro and Return Path. The group dinner was also sponsored by Vade Retro.

The goal of the Anti-Abuse group is to share knowledge, best practices, case studies, user guides and presentations on the latest techniques for fighting spam and online abuse. During this specific meeting, the Members discussed dynamic botnet detection, Phishing, malware detection, DMARC implementation, ETIS – Return Path Global Trap Exchange and variety of statistics from the vendors. The group is also looking into creating a centralised Phishing link reporting system with the help of the vendors.

Mathieu Girol, Senior Manager, Mailbox Provider Partnerships EMEA from Return Path had the following to say about hosting the event: "Rare are the events in the industry where you can have frank and open discussions. So it is a pleasure for Return Path to help such an event to happen by hosting and actively participating in the anti-abuse working group."

The meeting concluded with an election of a new Anti-Abuse core team. ETIS is pleased to announce that Frank Lindberg from TDC was elected as the new Chairman of the group. Ian Verhoeven from Proximus and Thomas Lademann from  Swisscom were both elected as new Vice-Chairs. Last but not least, the group would like to thank Vegar Asmul from Telenor for all his excellent work he dedicated to this group during his three years as Chairman.

The next meeting will take place on 9-10 March 2016 and the host will be announced shortly. For more information on how to join this group, please contact Fred Werner at:
