This year, ETIS members met in Budapest on October 16-17 to share and exchange knowledge at the ETIS Community Gathering 2014. The Gathering was also held in conjunction with the 48th Management Board meeting kindly hosted by Magyar Telekom. This successful event brought together close to 140 participants to share knowledge on key ICT issues facing the Telecom industry.
It has been 10 years since we launched the ETIS Community Gathering series and it has also been 10 years since Facebook was launched and Social Media was just a buzz-word. As both the ETIS Gathering series and Social Media have reached maturity, this year’s theme was appropriately entitled: ‘How Digital Disruption, OTT players & Social Media are Transforming the Telco Value Chain’. The morning session provided an overview of the ‘Digi-Shifting’ trends affecting the Telecoms Value Chain as well as some IT success stories of how our Members are using Social Media and partnering with OTTs in a number of interesting ways to create new business models and engage customers. The Gathering began with a presentation from Wim De Meyer, Belgacom and ETIS Chairman, who presented on the future innovation trends of the Telecom industry and how ETIS can support the industry. A welcome address was also made by Christopher Mattheisen, CEO of Magyar Telekom, who presented Magyar Telekom’s ‘Digital Life’ Strategy. The Keynote presentation from Facebook focused on how social media is transforming the Telecoms industry and looked a future partnership models.
The remainder of the Gathering was dedicated to parallel sessions for six ETIS Working Groups: Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, Billing &Revenue Management, Procurement & Vendor Management, Business Intelligence & Data Warehouse and Customer Self Service. The Gathering also featured a CIO Executive Workshop that focused on ‘The pillars of innovation driving growth in the future Telco Portfolio’ as well as ‘Billing Simplification’ and ‘Outsourcing Strategies’.
The two-day event was an ideal opportunity for all of the members, associates, partners as well as the working groups to get to know one another, learn about each other’s activities, plans and expectations and above all, share knowledge. ETIS would also like to thank the 2014 Community Gathering’s sponsors that made the event a great success: Ericsson (Gold sponsor), Kampyle (Silver sponsor) and Matrixx (Silver sponsor).
ETIS will be hosting the next Community Gathering in Copenhagen on 15-16 October 2015. This meeting is open to ETIS members, Associate members, Partners and Working Group participants.
