ETIS Procurement & Vendor Management Working Group hosted by A1 Telekom Austria

On June 4-5, the ETIS Procurement & Vendor Management working group held its second meeting of the year in Vienna, Austria kindly hosted by A1 Telekom Austria. The meeting was well attended with 16 people representing 8 Telcos including A1 Telekom Austria, Belgacom, CYTA, eircom, Lattelecom, Telecom Italia, TeliaSonera and Turkcell. In addition, Ed Gubbins from Current Analysis and Roland Fadrany from Microsoft participated as guest speakers.
The group received a warm welcome from Alex Kuchar, Chief Procurement Officer of A1 Telekom Austria who also gave a presentation on the company’s Procurement activities and the status of A1’s cost-cutting initiatives. The main topics on the first day focused on Tools for Procurement, Vendor Assessment strategies and a keynote presentation from Roland Fadrany on Microsoft’s licensing policies.
On the second day of the meeting, the group held an interactive Cafe Session on Purchasing Coordination & Sustainability, followed by interesting sessions on the Governance of Procurement, Vested Outsourcing and Best Practices. In addition to the sharing of best practices in Procurement, the group also updated one another on the latest challenges and developments within their organizations. The participants were pleased with the opportunity to share knowledge and experiences with peers from different Telcos in such an open and trusted environment.
The group also held elections for the PVM Core Team and ETIS is pleased to announce that Daragh Killian, eircom and Alessandro Russo, Telecom Italia were elected as Vice-Chairs of the PVM Working Group for a two-year period. Mats Lundin was also appointed as acting Chairman for the next PVM working group meeting. The Working Group and ETIS would like to thank Andreas Wyder, Swisscom for his leadership, great work and involvement as Chairman of the group. The next PVM Working Group meeting will be held in conjunction with the ETIS Community Gathering on 16-17 October 2014 in Budapest, Hungary. For more information, please visit the Gathering webpage.
