ETIS Management Board & CIO Executive Forum Meeting Summary

ETIS recently held its 45th Management Board Meeting & CIO Executive Workshop which was hosted by Swisscom in Zurich on 30-31 May 2013.  The meetings were attended by 21 participants from 14 companies such as Deutsche Telekom, Belgacom, BT, KPN, TDC, Turk Telekom, OTE, Lattelecom, Cosmote, Swisscom, Telecom Italia and Crnogorski Telekom.

Some of the topics covered during the Board meeting were the ETIS KPIs – Status report 2012, Communications strategy 2013-2015, ETIS Deliverables 2012-2013, ETIS Community Gathering 2013 and other administrative matters. ETIS is also pleased to announce that during the Board meeting Mr. Wim De Meyer, Belgacom was elected as the new Chairman of ETIS. ETIS would also like to thank Mrs Tora Tenden for her many years of dynamic leadership as Chairman of ETIS and the organization will continue to benefit from her energy and competence in her new role as Secretary General of ETIS. Kees Stok from KPN, Armin Sumesgutner from A1 Telekom Austria, Andreas Asimomitis from OTE and Luca Varvello from Telecom Italia were also re-elected as Council members.

The theme of the CIO Executive Workshop hosted on Friday, 31 May, was ‘IT as an enabling platform for M2M & IT Cost-saving programmes‘. The M2M-session looked at the IT implications of M2M from a CIO's Governance perspective. The second session was dedicated to ‘IT Cost-saving programmes’ and featured presentations by Carsten Korgaard from TDC and Luca Varvello from Telecom Italia. A round-table discussion session also took place where our members shared knowledge, experiences and successful practices regarding their own cost cutting programmes.

The next CIO Executive Workshop will be held in Riga, Latvia during the ETIS Community Gathering on 17/18 October 2013.
